Dan Pearlson

Chief Executive Officer

With more than twenty years executive management experience, Mr. Pearlson is a nationally recognized leader in advanced video/audio/data compression and transmission technologies.

Mr. Pearlson is the founder of several high-technology startups including Sequent Technologies where he invented the first solid-state in-vehicle recorder for law enforcement; the first automated wireless evidence transfer system for law enforcement; the first MPEG-based cellular video transmission technology; and a multi-channel high-resolution video telemetry system for the US Air Force. As Sequent's Chief Executive, he took the company public three years after its founding with more than $10 million in revenues in a reverse merger with Global ePoint (Nasdaq:GEPT).  Prior to Sequent, Mr. Pearlson served as the Vice President of Network Technologies, the Director of Research and Development, and as the acting Chief Technology Officer of Youbet.com (Nasdaq:UBET) where he contributed to the development of the world’s highest traffic live IP video subscription service. Mr. Pearlson also founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Novatel Computer Systems, one of the nation’s largest independent providers of digital network access multiplexers.

In addition to his management expertise, he is credited with having invented the first low-bandwidth Internet-based television-quality video streaming system for distance education in 1993, for which achievement he received an honorary doctorate in 1996. He has served as the Advanced Technology Team Leader for Distance Education with the Department of Continuing Education of the California State University at Los Angeles, as well as the Technology Leader for distance education at the County of Los Angeles Department of Workplace Programs.

In 1996, as the Executive Director of the Advanced Research Institute at West Coast University, Mr. Pearlson led groundbreaking development of the first Internet Protocol based television-quality multi-rate video streaming system, also including concurrent interactive features such as shared whiteboards and software application sharing in support of distance education.

Mr. Pearlson continues to advance the field of computer science in areas including network security and intrusion detection systems; visual telecommunication; wireless network transmission technologies; video analytics; and semi autonomous information systems. He is also the originator of more than 25 other groundbreaking innovations in digital networking and computer science.
